Established in the year 1968, The Chandigarh Museum and Art Gallery are reminiscent of the pre-partition era featuring various exhibits that were earlier preserved at the Central Museum of Lahore. The museum is one of the main buildings among the three present buildings present in the Museum Complex of the city. A paradise for history buffs, the museum showcases a myriad of stone sculptures, traditional artefacts and miniature paintings by Rajasthani.

2. Chandigarh Architecture Museum

Also known as the City Museum Chandigarh, it was established in 1997 on the 50th anniversary of our country’s independence. A structural marvel itself, the museum demonstrates the architectural progress and planning including original plans and photographs that have developed the city into what it is today. One of the main attractions of the museum is the furniture section which constitutes furniture designed specifically for the city.

3. Natural History Museum

Dedicated to a time in history when dinosaurs resided on the earth, Natural History Museum Chandigarh gives you an interesting insight into ancient plants, animals, ecosystems, palaeontology and climatology. The museum is also located in Museum Complex and you can even see various dinosaur dioramas on display here. 4. Museum of Evolution of Life

One of the most famous and fascinating museums in Chandigarh, the Museum of Evolution of Life depicts the evolution of humans from a single cell. The museum opened to the public in the year 1973 and exhibits human evolution and the diversity of animals and plants through the paintings on its walls. Besides the museum, there are several art galleries on its premises which has paintings related to botany, astronomy and history.

5. Le Corbusier Center

A fitting tribute to the famous Swiss-French architect who designed the beautiful city of Chandigarh, Le Corbusier Center was established in the year 2008. The museum displays the skills of the architect in full light and not just for Chandigarh but for other cities across the world including Japan and America. The centre is his original office which was transformed into a museum on his 121st birth anniversary.

6. National Gallery Of Portraits

Dedicated to the people who relentlessly fought for the freedom of our country, the National Gallery of Portraits exhibits paintings and photographs depicting the struggles endured by our freedom fighters. You can also listen to the recorded voices of Mahatama Gandhi and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru here. The gallery was set up with the aim that the upcoming generations remember the struggles and sacrifices of the heroes behind India’s independence.

7. International Doll Museum

One of the most famous museums of the city, International Doll Museum Chandigarh showcases a variety of heritage dolls and puppets from different regions around the world including Spain, Korea, Germany and Denmark. The museum was established in the year 1985 and has both indigenous and exotic dolls renowned for historical, fashion design, geographical and costume features.
