The LaLiT takes pride in our traditions and celebrations. They go out of their way to make the guests experience these traditions not just from the surface but take us through a journey, going deep into the roots of the tradition, so we take back more than just a luxury comfortable stay from the visit.

The Hindu festival of Holi is upon us! The LaLiT will be hosting 3 days of grand celebrations in the city of Udaipur. The festivities start from Delhi Cant. Railway Station where guests boarded the famous Chetak Express for Udaipur. A royal treatment for all guests, Holi specials like Gujiyas, Rajasthani food, and drinks to complete the merriment.

On 7th March, The LaLiT Udaipur will experience Chhoti Holi with a one of a kind glorious Bonfire will be arranged for at the palace lawns. The whole day will be filled with events for guests to enjoy (see enclosed itinerary).

On 8th March (Holi), at The LaLiT Udaipur guests will enjoy a full arrangement of colors, water, traditional food, drinks to see how Holi is truly celebrated in India.

Holi is a Hindu festival that celebrates the arrival of spring. The festival is celebrated over the course of several days usually in the second week of March.

  • Day One is known as Rang Pashi. This is when the eldest member of the family takes colored water and colored powder and wipes it on the faces of his family members as a way of showing his blessings.
  • Day Two is known as Puno. On this day there is an amazing community bonfire where members of the community come out. This day is specifically known for being extremely boisterous, where there is a lot of hooting and hollering, where people show their excitement for the arrival of spring.
  • Day Three is known as Parva. This is the day that is most commonly associated with Holi. It is when friends and family gather and throw colored water and colored powder all over each other.

24/7 café | The LaLit, New Delhi

posted in: Uncategorized | 14

Besides the smiling staff, stunning art collection, grandeur reception, another thing to surely grab your attention as you enter the LaLit Delhi hotel is the 24/7 restaurant, bar and bakery. As the name suggests, the place is open 24 hours and 7 days a week giving abundant options for guests and visitors to savor recipes from cuisines such as Continental, Thai, South and North Indian, Italian, French and more. The menu is quite a foodie’s handbook, providing a unique option for every meal in a week. This multi cuisine restaurant has the facility of live cooking, where the guests can watch their food being cooked and also suggest the chef food of their choice.

Considering the varied available options, Chef Ajay recommended a light and hearty salad – perfect healthy option to satiate the mid meal cravings. In my opinion a good salad is the one where the greens are crunchy and the size is filling. The Mediterranean salad definitely fit the bill and Chef Ajay was nice to share the recipe of the 24/7 Mediterranean salad here:

Mediterranean Salad

RECIPE

Serves 1

Ingredients:

  • Cucumber peeled and seedless 50 gms
  • Feta cheese 50 gms
  • Semi dried tomato 20 gms
  • Zucchini 50 gms
  • Eggplant 30 gms
  • Kalamata olives 20 gms
  • Roasted assorted peppers 30 gms
  • Chickpeas 20 gms
  • fresh basil 1 sprig
  • Lettuce iceberg trimmed and clean 80 gms
  • Lemon dressing: lemon juice 15 Tbs, olive oil 2 tbs, salt and pepper to taste.

Procedure:

  1. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl except the lettuce leaves and feta cheese
  2. Add the lemon dressing in the mixture
  3. Arrange the salad in a platter on a bed of iceberg lettuce leaves
  4. Add diced feta cheese on top of the salad.

Bon Apetit!

Do leave us your comments below of how your version of the Mediterranean salad turned out to be. Or you can always drop in at 24/7 Restaurant anytime and try it here.
