Belur Math

The prime centre for Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math was built by Swami Vivekananda to honour the legacy of Shri Ramakrishna Paramhansa by placing his relics here and constructing a holy place to house them. Built in 1938, the compound consists of four temples that interestingly feature

Christian, Hindu and Muslim motifs. Even today, Belur Math is a standing testimony of the brotherhood and unity that India is best known for.
